Why A Home Inspector?

Among the most expensive purchases you will ever make is the purchase of a home. Whether you are a first-time buyer or someone who has purchased several homes, the task can be daunting. Knowing the condition of the home you are considering can go a long way toward eliminating some of the stress. A home inspection conducted by a certified, professional home inspector will help take much of the guess work out of your decisions.

As you crunch the numbers, negotiate offers, add up closing costs and shop for mortgages, don't forget to arrange for a home inspection. The money you spend for a home inspection will be well worth the peace of mind a professional home inspection can provide.

The State of Texas licenses home inspectors to perform to a minimum standard.  Much like being up to code, any less would be illegal. But minimum standards are often just not good enough. Professional inspectors affiliated with industry organizations such as the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors  (NACHI) will out-perform the minimum standard. There are lots of home inspectors to choose from but only a NACHI inspector will treat your home or potential home as their own.

TIP of the MONTH

Although natural gas leaks are rare, learn to recognize the signs that could indicate you have a leak. A distinctive "rotten egg" odor is added so that natural gas is detectable to the human sense of smell. If you suspect a natural gas leak in your home or outside your home, follow these safety steps:

    ** LEAVE the area IMMEDIATELY

** Call ATMOS ENERGY at 1-800-817-8090 (North & Central Texas) from a safe distance.

** DO NOT turn the lights on or off, smoke or use a cell phone, vehicle or equipment that could cause sparks.

** DO NOT attempt to turn natural gas valves on or off.
